Accessibility statement

Last updated: October 7, 2026

This statement covers LeaveCalc and LeaveCalc for Employers. It says what we aim for, where things stand today, and how to tell us when something does not work for you.

Commitment and target

We want everyone on a team to be able to ask for time off, approve it and check a balance, whatever way they use a computer or a phone. Our target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA for the public site, the request page and the app.

WCAG 2.1 is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the W3C. Level AA covers things such as text contrast, use with a keyboard alone, names for buttons and form fields, and content that still works when it is zoomed.

What is covered

  • The public site at leavecalc.com, including the calculators and these pages.
  • The request page employees open from their employer's request link, and the self-service page they open with an email link.
  • The LeaveCalc for Employers app used by owners, managers and viewers.

Current state

We audited the public site, the request page and the app on October 6, 2026, and fixed what the audit found. The audit used automated checks (axe-core, WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 A and AA rules) on 27 app screens in demo mode, the request page in 7 states and every page of the public site, keyboard-only tests, zoom to 200% and 400%, and a colour contrast calculation. We have not yet tested with a screen reader.

  • The app now keeps keyboard focus inside dialogs and gives it back when they close, takes focus in every drawer, has a skip link, announces the month calendar as a grid, lets you scroll wide tables with the keyboard, and names the Approve, Deny and Edit buttons after the person they act on. Error messages stay on screen until you close them.
  • The request page moves focus to the field with a problem and says what is wrong with it.
  • Contrast: small grey, red and orange text, field borders and focus rings meet WCAG 2.1 AA.
  • The public site fits a 320 px wide screen, and the pages we tested pass the automated checks.

Known limitations

These are the limits we know about:

  • We have not yet tested with a screen reader such as NVDA, JAWS or VoiceOver. We will, and we will fix what it finds.
  • The month calendar and some charts are visual. The same information is in the Requests and Today lists and in the exports.
  • The FMLA notices (WH-380, WH-381, WH-382) open as printable pages. We have not tested them with assistive technology yet.

The audit notes, with the exact places and fixes, are kept by us. We can share them on request.

Reporting a problem

If something on LeaveCalc is hard or impossible to use, email contact@leavecalc.com. It helps to include:

  • the page or screen, and what you were trying to do;
  • the browser, and any assistive technology you use, such as a screen reader or magnifier;
  • what happened, and what you expected.

Alternative formats

If you need information from LeaveCalc in another format, ask by email. Your records can be exported as CSV or JSON, and we can send information as plain text by email.

In the app, Reports > Exports > Download backup gives the whole account as a JSON file, and the payroll export and the report builder produce CSV files that open in any spreadsheet.

Technical details

LeaveCalc is built with HTML5, CSS and JavaScript. It is made to work with a keyboard and is tested in Chromium. A draft Accessibility Conformance Report (VPAT 2.5, WCAG edition) is available on request: email contact@leavecalc.com. It is a self-evaluation, dated October 6, 2026, and it is updated with each release.

For public employers

The US Department of Justice ADA Title II web rule sets WCAG 2.1 AA for the web content of state and local governments: from April 26, 2027 for governments of 50,000 people or more, and from April 26, 2028 for smaller ones and special districts. Whether it covers the tools your staff use is a question for your counsel.

If your procurement asks for accessibility documents, start with this statement and ask for the VPAT draft. The buying page lists the other papers we can send.
