Why the pricing model differs so much
LeaveCalc prices per tier because it does one job — rolling-balance tracking — and nothing else. AI SoloHR and J.J. Keller price around a broader HR case-management workflow (documents, deadlines, sometimes HRIS integration), which is why their plans cost more and, for Keller, aren't listed at all.
FAQ
Is there a truly free FMLA tracker?
Yes — LeaveCalc's tracker is free forever for up to 3 employees, no card required. AI SoloHR and J.J. Keller Leave Manager both require a paid plan or a sales quote once you're past their trial.
Why don't J.J. Keller or AI SoloHR list exact prices?
J.J. Keller Leave Manager only quotes pricing after a sales call, typical for compliance-platform vendors selling to larger HR teams. AI SoloHR does publish tiers ($79–$799/mo), but they're priced around a broader HR case-management workflow, not a single rolling-balance calculator.
Does LeaveCalc auto-fill FMLA certification forms (WH-380/381/382)?
Not yet. LeaveCalc calculates and tracks rolling balances; it doesn't generate or fill DOL certification forms. J.J. Keller lists forms and reporting tools as a feature, and AI SoloHR stores uploaded documents in its case record, but neither auto-fills WH-380/381/382 as far as their public pages describe.
I already use an Etsy FMLA spreadsheet — should I switch?
For a single employee, a spreadsheet template is fine. Once you're tracking more than a couple of people, or need alerts before a balance runs low, the static formulas become the risk — that's the gap a live tracker fills.
