Public holidays in the Philippines 2026

Counting Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, 18 of the 20 holiday dates in 2026 fall on a working day and 2 on a weekend. The most common weekday for a holiday is Friday, with 6 dates.

Nine of the 20 dates land on a Monday or Friday, next to the weekend, so they make a long weekend without using any leave: Eid al-Fitr on Friday, March 20, Good Friday on Friday, April 3, Labor Day on Friday, May 1, Independence Day on Friday, June 12, Ninoy Aquino Day on Friday, August 21, National Heroes Day on Monday, August 31, and 3 more. Five more holidays sit one working day away from the weekend, so a single day of leave turns each into a four-day break: New Year's Day on Thursday, January 1 (take Friday off), Chinese New Year on Tuesday, February 17 (take Monday off), Day of Valor on Thursday, April 9 (take Friday off) and Immaculate Conception on Tuesday, December 8 (take Monday off), and 1 more.

December is the busiest month, with 5 holiday dates. July, September and October have no public holiday at all. The longest stretch between two holidays is 70 days, from Independence Day on June 12 to Ninoy Aquino Day on August 21, the natural window for a longer break.

2027 brings 20 public holidays, the same number as 2026. 13 of the 20 dates fall on a working day, and 7 land next to the weekend.
