Counting Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, 7 of the 10 holiday dates in 2026 fall on a working day and 3 on a weekend.
Counting Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, 7 of the 10 holiday dates in 2026 fall on a working day and 3 on a weekend. The most common weekday for a holiday is Monday, with 3 dates.
Five of the 10 dates land on a Monday or Friday, next to the weekend, so they make a long weekend without using any leave: Good Friday on Friday, April 3, Easter Monday on Monday, April 6, King's Day on Monday, April 27, Pentecost Monday on Monday, May 25 and Christmas Day on Friday, December 25. Two more holidays sit one working day away from the weekend, so a single day of leave turns each into a four-day break: New Year's Day on Thursday, January 1 (take Friday off) and Ascension Day on Thursday, May 14 (take Friday off).
April is the busiest month, with 4 holiday dates. Eight months have no public holiday at all (February, March, June, July, August, September, October and November). The longest stretch between two holidays is 214 days, from Pentecost Monday on May 25 to Christmas Day on December 25, the natural window for a longer break.
2027 brings 10 public holidays, the same number as 2026. 6 of the 10 dates fall on a working day, and 4 land next to the weekend.
The .ics files import into Google Calendar, Outlook and Apple Calendar as all-day events.
