Counting Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, 8 of the 11 holiday dates in 2026 fall on a working day and 3 on a weekend.
Counting Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, 8 of the 11 holiday dates in 2026 fall on a working day and 3 on a weekend. The most common weekday for a holiday is Friday, with 4 dates.
Six of the 11 dates land on a Monday or Friday, next to the weekend, so they make a long weekend without using any leave: Eid al-Fitr (estimated) on Friday, March 20, Good Friday on Friday, April 3, Easter Monday on Monday, April 6, Labor Day on Friday, May 1, Madaraka Day on Monday, June 1 and Christmas Day on Friday, December 25. Two more holidays sit one working day away from the weekend, so a single day of leave turns each into a four-day break: New Year's Day on Thursday, January 1 (take Friday off) and Mashujaa Day on Tuesday, October 20 (take Monday off).
December is the busiest month, with 3 holiday dates. Five months have no public holiday at all (February, July, August, September and November). The longest stretch between two holidays is 131 days, from Madaraka Day on June 1 to Mazingira Day on October 10, the natural window for a longer break.
1 date is marked as estimated in the source data, so confirm it nearer the time.
2027 brings 11 public holidays, the same number as 2026. 9 of the 11 dates fall on a working day, and 6 land next to the weekend.
