Public holidays in Fiji 2026

Counting Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, 9 of the 12 holiday dates in 2026 fall on a working day and 3 on a weekend. The most common weekday for a holiday is Monday, with 4 dates.

Seven of the 12 dates land on a Monday or Friday, next to the weekend, so they make a long weekend without using any leave: Good Friday on Friday, April 3, Easter Monday on Monday, April 6, Girmit Day on Monday, May 11, Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna Day on Friday, May 29, Diwali (observed, estimated) on Monday, November 9, Christmas Day on Friday, December 25, and 1 more. Two more holidays sit one working day away from the weekend, so a single day of leave turns each into a four-day break: New Year's Day on Thursday, January 1 (take Friday off) and Prophet Mohammed's Birthday (estimated) on Tuesday, August 25 (take Monday off).

April is the busiest month, with 3 holiday dates. Five months have no public holiday at all (February, March, June, July and September). The longest stretch between two holidays is 92 days, from New Year's Day on January 1 to Good Friday on April 3, the natural window for a longer break.

2 entries are observed, substitute or bridge days that move holidays onto working days, for example Diwali (observed, estimated) on November 9. 3 dates are marked as estimated in the source data, so confirm them nearer the time.

2027 brings 12 public holidays, the same number as 2026. 9 of the 12 dates fall on a working day, and 8 land next to the weekend.
