Of the 18 holiday dates in 2026, 10 fall on a working day and 8 on the weekend.
Of the 18 holiday dates in 2026, 10 fall on a working day and 8 on the weekend. The most common weekday for a holiday is Wednesday, with 4 dates.
Three of the 18 dates land on a Thursday or Sunday, next to the weekend, so they make a long weekend without using any leave: Eid al-Fitr on Sunday, March 22, Independence Day on Thursday, March 26 and Eid al-Adha on Thursday, May 28. Four more holidays sit one working day away from the weekend, so a single day of leave turns each into a four-day break: Mid-Sha'ban on Wednesday, February 4 (take Thursday off), July Mass Uprising Day on Wednesday, August 5 (take Thursday off), Prophet's Birthday on Wednesday, August 26 (take Thursday off) and Victory Day on Wednesday, December 16 (take Thursday off).
March is the busiest month, with 6 holiday dates. Five months have no public holiday at all (January, July, September, October and November). The longest stretch between two holidays is 112 days, from Prophet's Birthday on August 26 to Victory Day on December 16, the natural window for a longer break.
2027 brings 18 public holidays, the same number as 2026. 13 of the 18 dates fall on a working day, and 7 land next to the weekend.
